How To Set Up Home WiFi

Having a Wi-Fi connection at home may be very advantageous especially if you have laptops and mobile phones that are capable of accessing the internet through Wi-Fi connectivity. If you have a Wi-Fi connection at home, you may be able to access the internet through your laptop or mobile phone without having to attach a cable. There are actually several things that you will need when it comes to setting up a Wi-Fi network at home and here are some of the tips which will be able to help you in doing so.

Some of the basic things that you will need to have when it comes to setting up a Wi-Fi network at home are the following:

a.       Wireless router

b.      RJ-45 Cables or Ethernet Cables

c.       Laptops or Desktops that have wireless NIC.

d.      Internet connection and the DSL Modem

Here are the steps when it comes to setting up your own Wi-Fi network at home.

1.       The first thing that you need to do is to turn on your modem as well as the wireless router. Make sure that the LED lights which indicate POWER are turned on to ensure that they are working.

2.       The next thing that you need to do is to connect your wireless router and DSL modem using Ethernet cable. To do this, you may need to locate the port on the router which says “WAN” – this is where you will insert the Ethernet cable.

3.       Connect your main computer using another cable to the wireless router. This is only required during the installation of Wi-Fi network. You may need to configure your wireless router using your computer so that you may be able to access the Wi-Fi and put password.

4.       After you have set up your Wi-Fi network at home, you may then connect using your Wi-Fi enabled devices.
